In a huge move, the British Government is making the first ever official count of Autistic Adults.  Once counted the data will be used to make sure people who need Autism Related Services are able to get them and are not overlooked.

According to the BBC:

In making the announcement, [Care Services Minister] Ivan Lewis highlighted how limited the understanding of the condition still is.

“We still don’t know enough about autism, but we do know that left unsupported, it can have a devastating impact on those who have the condition and their families.

“One of the key gaps in our knowledge is simple - we don’t know how many people have the condition in any given area.

“That is why I am ordering a study to address this.”

This could be a very great move for the Autistic and Aspergers Syndrome community at large, the idea of a national strategy for people with Autism is an excellent idea - it will set a standard of care, raise awareness and make sure people are not overlooked that need treatment - which happens quite often in the United States.
