Animal Behavior Researcher and Autism self-advocate Dr. Temple Grandin will be speaking in Grand Rapids, MI
in January. She is currently a Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University. She recently made the headlines worldwide when a movie about her won 5 Emmy awards. Grandin is a leading advocate for those with Autism and does many speaking events regulalry around the country.
I don’t have a car, but I hope by January I will so I can see her in person. This would be a really awesome event!
The event is Monday, January 10 at 12:30 p.m. (EST). If you don’t live in the area internet streaming of the event will be available. I may see if I can somehow stream a video of the even to AspieWeb as well (no promises).
If your curious here are some books by Dr. Grandin
- The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Aspergers and Autism
- Animals Make Us Human
- Animals In Translation

Interesting. Do know if there is a cost to attend the event? Or if you have to register?
I believe it is free and open to the public. Tomorrow I will make some phone calls and get some more concrete details.
No cost to attend and no reservations. Seating is available on a first come first serve basis.
It is at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. It is part of a series of speakers that Calvin calls the January Series.

Thanks for that information. Could you tell us a bit about the venue so us people on the Autism Spectrum can get a better idea of what sort of sensory issues we may have if we attend.
Thankyou!
