Teacher Threatned For Reporting Abuse

Today a teacher reported she was threatened to be terminated if she reported abuse that a student told her about.AspieTeach reported today on her twitter account, “The one time I wanted to call CPS about a student who reported abuse at home, the counselor threatened my job.” and “Not to mention all the times I wanted to say something about my coworkers beating the kids but the principal was happy about it”

I ended up leaving classroom teaching a few years ago and am much happier now without the politics. What I was seeing on a daily basis was so horrid.

You may be interested in blogging about this teacher, who was fired for complaining about a coworker who abused an autistic student: http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/news.aspx?id=22602 A court ruled that the teacher had no First Amendment protection and thus upheld the school’s decision.

That’s terrible! The teacher should be praised, not threatened, for trying to help students escape abuse!
