A new movie entitled ‘Just Add Water’ was featured recently at a showing in Hawaii.  It featured the story of Clay Marzo a professional surfer who is also Autistic.  The movie follows around Clay during his surfing tours and shows how his struggles how he struggles with Aspergers.   EDIT: I added a trailer and info on how to buy the movie.

For puchasing information head to Quicksilver, according to them it should be in stores this fall.

Wow. Gave me chills. If he had been the same guy in the 1960’s people would have thought he was just weird, especially cool, or tempermental or all three.

I do that hand rubbing thing a lot.

Not being into surf culture or youth culture I have to say this movie is unlikely to have any appeal to me.

Now a movie about Gary McKinnon, albeit that is an unfinished story, now that would be interesting.

The only interest that this movie would have to me is as a comparative tool. Last month I thought I had my usual social phobias and neurosis, this month I have spoken with two specialists with a diagnosis. All of a sudden I’m wondering how unusual others with Asperger’s actually are. I’m wondering If I’m still as truly screwed up as I previously thought. Other than that, surf movies usually held little interest for me.
