UK based hacker with Autism, Gary McKinnon has had his extradition to the United States halted for review.  The UK Home Secretary halted McKinnon’s extradition to review new medical evidence on McKinnon’s mental health.  McKinnon has admitted to and is charged with hacking into US Military Computer Systems.  According to McKinnon’s mother her son is broken and suicidal.

People who have sided with McKinnon call this great news, but others are quick to point out the Home Office may be just following procedures to stop possibilities of a later appeal.  The 14 day countdown for extradition has been halted and will not resume until the home office makes a decision based on the medical evidence.
