AspieWeb is part of a much bigger autism community and I think its time I start giving back to the community. From August 2010 forward 25% of profit that AspieWeb and its partner site Autism Insurance Info from its advertisers, paypal donations and the AspieWeb store will be donated to a person, organization or group that has a mission or goal of supporting people with Autism in one way or another.
But theres more!
You get to select who gets the money! At the beginning of the month I will put up the three good causes that may receive 25 percent of AspieWeb’s profit for that month. On the first day of the month I will post the total profit that AspieWeb made and will hold some sort of voting process on the three good causes to see who gets the money. I’m still working out how exactly the vote will work, but give me time. This post will also contain the three good causes for that calendar month.
Are you kidding me?
Nope.
The Three Good Causes This Month:
- Autism Women’s Network
http://www.autismwomensnetwork.org/
AWN is dedicated to building a community of autistic females, their families, friends, and supporters who have a place where they can share their experiences amongst a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment. We invite you to take a look around and join us today. - Wrongplanet
http://www.wrongplanet.net
Wrong Planet is the web community designed for individuals (and parents / professionals of those) with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD, PDDs, and other neurological differences. We provide a discussion forum, where members communicate with each other, an article section, with exclusive articles and how-to guides, a blogging feature, and a chatroom for real-time communication with other Aspies. - The Autism Self Advocacy Network
http://www.autisticadvocacy.org/
The Autistic Self Advocacy Network seeks to advance the principles of the disability rights movement in the world of autism. Drawing on the principles of the cross-disability community on issues such as inclusive education, community living supports and others, ASAN seeks to organize the community of Autistic adults and youth to have our voices heard in the national conversation about us. In addition, ASAN seeks to advance the idea of neurological diversity, putting forward the concept that the goal of autism advocacy should not be a world without Autistic people. Instead, it should be a world in which Autistic people enjoy the same access, rights and opportunities as all other citizens. Working in fields such as public policy, media representation, research and systems change, ASAN hopes to empower Autistic people across the world to take control of their own lives and the future of our common community. Nothing About Us, Without Us!
You will get to vote on which one of these great causes gets money from this months profits starting September 1st!
But My Really Awesome Cause Needs Money!

I shall vote ASAN!!! I am thinking of contacting them and seeing if I kcan’t set up a branch in SW MO. My next vote would of been wrong planet, but I had to go with ASAN in the end. They are fiery, like me! I can’t tell you how long I have felt like the token aspie out on my state’s front lines fighting for our rights! I was so happy to hear about ASAN!
Great choice of causes Zach. All three are awesome!
