FLASH: Autistic Hacker Will Be Extradited

by Zach on February 28, 2009

in Advocacy, News

In a huge victory for Autism Rights, Autistic Hacker Gary McKinnon will be extradited to the United States for his attack on United States military computer systems according to UK’s Crown Prosecution Service.

In a statement the Crown Prosecution Service said the trial would be best held in the United States, where the bulk of the evidence and activity were at.  Yesterday they states that they will begin the process of extraditing Gary McKinnon to the United States for his attack on United States Government Computers.

In his attacks on the computers shortly after September 11th, 2001 McKinnon compromised 97 computers operated by NASA and the Department of Defense, which McKinnon always claimed he was looking for evidence of UFO’s.

Using Autism As A Crutch Does Not Work

In the last several months in an utterly disgusting move McKinnon blamed Aspergers Syndrome for his hack attempts.  He than further claimed through his lawyers that he should not be extradited because of his Aspergers.

The Victory

This is a huge victory for Autism Rights – which demands equal treatment in society for those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  The fact that Gary McKinnon was extradited while trying to use Aspergers as a crutch for his behaviors shows the huge breakthroughs that the Autism Rights movement is making in the UK.

No offence but Gary Mackinnon has one final option which is a judicial review of the UK governments decision to extradite him . Until that review is complete I wouldn’t start the “victory celebrations” (if they can be called that) just yet as he may not be extradited to the US if the review goes in his favour.

You are right, just because we have Aspergers does not mean we have a right to blame things because of our aspergers. Once someone with an ASD learns something, they know what to do. there are things though with ASD which are not under our control. For the most part if we learn it properly, we know it.

he should have won, it’s sad he got extradited. They will put him in prison for longer than a rapist would go in, it’s mad!

My experience with Autism has been a heightened sense of right and wrong to the point of almost having a blinding view of the world as black and white. I long ago decided to not pursue hacking due to that very sense of morality. The disability defense is designed in law to protect individuals who have no control over their actions. If the UK hacker is capable of the charges, then he is also in my mind competent to stand trial. If he is as I believe competent and he is not tried, it would serve as a major blow to those of us who view Autism not as a curse, but rather as a beautiful gift.

its a shame that someone like gary looking for the truth is being treated really bad over this when we all know the governments around the world are involved in covering things up regarding ufo’s and aliens. seems like gary got really close to something the us government dont want him to disclose. just goes to show the extreme lengths the government are going through to stop him from telling the truth
