A free drop in centre for those with autism spectrum disorders was recently vandalized. Vandals broke in through the roof ripping off kitchen extractor fans to gain entry and caused around £10,000 (or $14,786.99 USD). According to Autism Initiatives staff the vandals urinated on tables, damaged electrical equipment and rubbed graffiti all over.
Autism Initiative NI’s centre at Down’s Road, Newcastle had just open Tuesday December 2nd but staff arrived to find the building ramsacked, tables urinated on, and electrical equipment destroyed. Project co-ordinator, Dolores Curran believes the vandals were local youth but the police investigation is ongoing.
The building intended to be a ‘one stop shop’ for those with autism spectrum disorders including aspergers syndrome. Autistics could have stopped by for advice on relationships, employment, managing crisis situations, and how to obtain benefits. Classes in art, music, cooking and gardening were also offered – as well as various relaxation activities.
I’m deeply apalled by this act, and I encourage anyone that knows anything to please step forward. This act shows that there is a group of people out there that have no care for others as long as they are having fun – and I think they need more help then the autistic people who would of used that centre, which is quite sad to say.

Got to say, that’s a horrible thing.
I also feel appalled. Beyond words.
What the heck, Why can’t they burn down their own houses instead of something worthwhile like this place….
The world is getting worse with each coming day
