I contacted the Florida Attorney General's office and was told they were gathering information about abuse and seclusion of Exceptional Education Students in public schools. I was also told they have NO authority over FLDOE and the best they could do was urge and advise. When I finally spoke to the person who was to take my "testimony" I was told they would be represented at a local conference last month in Orlando, the 100 Ideas Conference. When I asked about them at the conference I was told by a conference organizer that the ideas that came from the break out session on abuse and seclusion would be given to the Attorney General's office. Apparently they were too busy to attend the conference. Am not sure what came out of the break out since I attended the session on reforming our Exceptional Student Education. Am equally unsure of how much, if any, of the input went to the Florida Attorney General's office or what exactly they have the authority to do.
