If you have medicaid for disability and end up getting pregnant, your going to have some very bad insurance. Insurance seems to be a huge problem in the nation today, and having a pregnancy makes it worse if your on medicaid.Government run insurance appears to have its shortcomings, and pregnancy is another one of them. If your pregnant and on medicaid your going to have some significant issues with proper services.
Abortion
While I don’t believe in abortion, and neither does Kate we did explore all of our options – including abortion. If your looking at an abortion, even for life or death health reasons be prepared to pay out of pocket – medicaid will under no circumstances cover abortion.
Lower Standard of Care
You will likely get a lower standard of care, lets face it – OBs, birthing centers, hospitals and midwives run a business, and businesses need money. Medicaid is known to only pay out about half of what other insurance companies pay out – so your proboly going to be getting about half as good care. Be prepared for it!
