Healthcare Reform Sucks – Star Trek Style

in Healthcare & Insurance

While I was in jail we got to watch an hour of news a day, half an hour of which was always Glenn Beck.  While I agree with a lot of what Beck has to say generally, I still think hes a crazy hoot.  But what I have been seeing the last week has pissed me off, and the current Healthcare reform crap reminds me of a star trek episode.

The EMH assists Dr Voje

The EMH assists Dr Voje

In an episode of Star Trek Voyager called Critical Care the Doctor is stollen and forced to work on a hospital run by a guy named Chellick.  The hospital is run with health care rules similar to Obama’s new healthcare plan.

In this hospital patients are assigned a TC level, much like the score the goverment run healthcare plan would give American citizens.  In the eppisode a patient with a terminal condition is unable to recieve the cure for his condition, which is the same medication that people with a higher TC level recieve for prevenetive treatment.

This is new healthcare reform is very scary to me.  People like Kate and I would recieve less healthcare then others of our age just because we have disabilities.  What about our child?  Would our child be able to get healthcare because it has disabled parents?

What are your thoughts on the new healthcare reform?

Not sure if I know much about this healthcare thing, but I sure wouldn’t listen to Glenn Beck or any of those guys when it comes to them because I’m not sure how accurate their information is.

But, there’s probably not enough accurate information about most things, especially autism.

If your wAtching glenn beck, no wonder your scared and I’ll informed. If you don’t want the insurance, don’t opt into it.

I watch both left and right media. I enjoy anderson cooper as well. If you enjoy Rush Limbaugh though your most likely ill informed, and senile. That guy is an idiot.

I am no fan of the current system or the proposed bills, but it sounds like you are buying into the hype. The stuff you are talking about is not in any of the proposed bills, just hyped by fear mongers on cable news.

I’m not a fan of the current health care reform bill. I would much rather see us work within the current system to fix that first. The CEO of Whole Foods wrote, what I think, is a great op-ed piece for WSJ that outlines what needs to be done. I say start there and see where we go.
