Townhall: Autism and Healthcare Reform

by Zach on August 15, 2009

in Healthcare & Insurance

Its time to discuss how the health care reform would affect those with Autism and their families.  So seeing as all the politicians are having townhall meetings on health care reform – why can’t AspieWeb?

This post is going to be much like a forum thread, for people to talk about how the healthcare reform will effect those with Autism and their families.  I will post extremely important information to the top.  As this is a political discussion its likely going to get heated so I’m going to state a couple rules:

  1. Keep the conversation on topic.
  2. No insults
  3. This is for the USA Health care reform, however data and statistics from other countries can be used if its relevant.
  4. I have final say on moderation of comments.

So lets talk.  How do you think the health care reform will effect those with autism?  What are your concerns?  Do you think Autism Advocacy groups should support or oppose this reform?

I’ll have to think, I don’t know enough about the subject, but health care reform is needed.

The very first question at last Friday’s town hall mtg. in Montana came from a woman who has a son with autism, she had the same question you have: how will health reform affect his health insurance? We blogged about this at the Easter Seals and autism blog, read all about it here:
