Dyllan Rafil a 12 year old who has Aspergers Syndrome has published a book about his experience growing up with Aspergers.“He said that he wanted to help other children’s families and their teachers understand what life is like for children with autism,” according to his mother. The book called Super Senses is a children’s book which will be available in Late September 2009. The book shares what Dyllan’s insights are with Aspergers Syndrome – and he even choose fonts that he thinks will be more descriptive of things he describes.
When the book was done his classmates urged him to have it published, and according to Rafil’s mother they have found a publisher who is not only willing to publish the book “Super Senses” but is willing to duplicate his selection of fonts, and his drawings as well. Much of the educational and professional autism services community in his area seems to be very excited about the new books saying it will be a useful tool for children, parents and teachers.
According to her mother shes a bit concerned about the promotional events and the break of routine, and overwhelming situation it may cause. Currently he is doing great though according to his mother.
I can’t wait to get a copy of the book myself, and would like to congratulate Dyllan on such a great success at helping others with Aspergers!

I can’t wait to get a copy either. This summer I asked my nine year old Aspie what he wanted to accomplish by the end of summer. He said, “Make Purple Man famous.” Purple Man is his own comic book character. The humor in Purple Man reminds me a lot of Calvin and Hobbs, which is my son’s favorite.
Congradulations, Dyllan on following through. Lots of people talk about writing a book, but you did it!!!!
