Carnegie Mellon is going to be holding a Symposium on Autism in October. Its free. Its Carnegie Mellon (a big name in science). It looks like its Quackery Free (which is rare for Autism Symposiums). I wish I could attend, but I’m not close enough.

Why The ‘Vaccines Causes Autism’ Still Goes On
Dr. Novella, an academic clinical neurologist at Yale University School of Medicine made a great exploration on why the myth ‘Vaccines Cause Autism’ is still around and how it results in suffering and deaths of Autistic People.
US Measles Outbreak Linked To Anti-Vaccine Parents
Apparently in the United States there has been a small outbreak of the measles. According the the CDC Measles Update page
Of the 64 people infected by the measles virus, only 1 had documentation of prior vaccination. Among the other 63 case-patients were 14 infants who were too young to be vaccinated. Many of the cases among US children occurred in children whose parents claimed exemption from vaccination due to religious or personal beliefs, or in children too young to be vaccinated. Disease transmission occurred in a variety of community and healthcare settings, including homes, childcare centers, schools, hospitals, emergency rooms, and doctors’ offices.
I have bold-faced the important part of the above paragraph. It seems very likely that 14 innocent children are suffering because a parent does not want their children to get a vaccination. My question is were any of these parents following the recommendations of the ‘Vaccines Cause Autism Camp?’ This camp could very well be costing lives now on the basis of a theory that has been disproven time and time again.
Do Vaccines Cause Autism?
Do Vaccinations and Autism have a link? Its a very touch subject and there has been extensive scientific research on the subject. Many parents believe that there children started showing Autistic Symptoms first after the child received a vaccination containing a mercury like preservative called Thimerosal. Mainstream science on the other hand has discounted Thimerosal as the cause of Autism.
A study in Denmark after the removal Thimerosal in 1992 research was conducted on the rates of Autism after the removal from Thimerosal, in it it was stated “The incidence [number of new cases over a time period] of autism remained fairly stable until 1990 and thereafter increased throughout the study period, including the period when thimerosal was no longer in vaccines.“ (Source). This is just one of many astudies that disprove that Thimerosal is the cause of Autism.
