This is very local to me, but two people with Aspergers Syndrome have just been awarded the National Merit Scholorship.Jacob Gritter-Dorr, 17, a junior at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, MI and Robert Brindley, 18, a senior at Gobles High School in Gobles, MI were just awarded the national merit scholarship.  According to the courier-leader both of them scored in the top one percent nation-wide on the SAT qualifying them for a scholarship.

“There is a perception that they don’t express themselves as other people do. Jacob is a very ethical person, concerned about people around him, even though he may not show it,” Jacob’s mother said – which is a news flash to Gary McKinnon who continues to blame his conveniently diagnosed Asperger’s for hacking into the United States Military.

I think congratulations are in order for these two fabulous students, for not only winning the National Merit Scholarship, but showing that people with Autism Spectrum Disorders are productive members of society – and that Autism should not be blamed for the atrocious behaviors of that like the moron Gary McKinnon.
