Aspergers, and Good Friends

The past week has been hell for me, and not just for me though.  During times you go through hell you find out who your really good friends are, and who really don’t care.During the last week, life as I know had been destroyed.  I’ve lost my fiance because of her lies, I’m likely going to loose my child, I’ve lost my church due to them closing, and my dignity has been smashed due to lies from my fiance.  But I have not lost a few important things, and one of them are my close friends.  My close friends are standing up for the truth, and they are not afraid to say it either.  Some of them are very very hurt with the abuse, manipulation and lies that were being said about me – but they are still there for me.

One of the greatest things I was told this weekend was one of the pastors at church saying something along the lines of “I know you have issues, but I also know you would never beat someone, rape someone, or any of that crap. The most you would ever do is run your mouth.”  Its great to hear those things being said about me, its great to know that even though I’m different people still know I would not hurt them.

I’m starting to realize that Aspergers does not affect my ability to have friendships – it just affects my ability to view friendships.  Would you agree?

No, I don’t agree. I have HFA/AS and I have no friends. I am going to need extensive social skills training to make friends. Nothing social comes naturally to me.

Luckily, you have friends to help you through hard times! Good luck!

Or perhaps you just need some friends who accept you for who you are
