So its common for people with Aspergers to have a fixation or two that they really really like, and devote all there free time too. Mine is technology and weather. But I would like to see what everyone else’s is. So if you have Aspergers or know someone that does what’s the Aspergers fixation? I know there is a diverse list of things that people get fixated on when they have aspergers, some even very strange. So what is your fixation?
Also how much time do you spend on that fixation and have you been able to turn it into an actual job? So lets have a conversation!

Mine is the study of ancient history, mythologies of various ancient cultures, philosphy, theology, and medieval/renissance history. It’s a daily obessesion!! My pet project of late has been studying medieval classics of the crusading era while also studying the actual time period of the crusades. It gives you a look into the minds of those who lived it.
Rome and Egypt are the two ancient cultures that have held my imagination since I was 10 years old. I buy and read everything I can get my hands on about them, the culture, the mythologies and thier daily life. I also enjoy studying symbolism in it’s many forms. A rather fascinating subject that goes into multiple areas: history, philosphy, psychology etc.
I can go on about these topics for hours on end and enjoy talking on these subjects ad naueseum if given the opportunity. I always warn people ahead of time to not ask me a question on those topics unless they are prepared for an accurate but complicated, three hour answer! lol!
Mammals! I will research whatever I come across regarding that class of Animalia, and how it came to be. Except there is not a lot of information on about how mammary glands and hair developed. Ever since I was 8, I was highly fascinated by all three subclasses of mammals: monotremes, marsupials, and eutherians. I would love to know a little more about the remote platypuses and echidnas, and how they bring up their offspring that hatch from eggs. I like other animals as well, but I usually focus on mammals.
My “fixation”, is kick-butt women! I love books, tv shows, and movies that are action and star a female lead, or leads. As of right now my super fixation is on “Sucker Punch”, before that was “Resident Evil:Afterlife”, I love love, love, love, love kick ass women like Alice in the Resident Evil films and Baby Doll (And the other girls) in Sucker Punch. I love to write though, romance/action and of course the novel of mine has a kick-butt girl in it. I love my kick-butt women. But I don’t think people understand me who are not my friends, like why I talk about these girls all the time! It annyos me!
How about Xena?
My fixations are Star Trek, Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate Atlantis, medieval Europe (particularly Germany) as well as fantasy kingdoms. I just love to immerse myself into the fantasy world where I feel a part of it.
Classic literature is the main fixation at the moment. From William Makepeace Thackeray (Vanity Fair) to Elizabeth Gaskell (North and South).
My favourite ancient cultures are Rome and Israel!
My fixation is sustainable architecture and the ramifications it could have for humanity. I find it impossible not to think about it, the various ways of implementing it, saving space in terms of how a room is used, etc. Such technology, as it evolves, could address the need for affordable housing, ecological concerns, the need for autonomy, a transition away from hierarchical means of production, etc. I see these things as the sounds of a symphony being tuned before a grand performance. The performance will be when these ideas become more widely known and accessible to everyone. http://www.earthship.com – Can’t stop thinking about it.
