Today on Boston.com I was reading about these four guys with Aspergers that formed a comedy group poking fun at some of the common characteristics of people with Aspbergers. I have to admit I got a good laugh from the video below, where an Aspie shares his interest in Ralph Nader with a very unwilling “stranger”.
At first I felt kind of guilty for finding the video humorous, even though that’s its intent. I mean they are poking fun at people with Aspergers, but I suppose considering they are all Aspie’s themselves, it makes it okay, or not?
The members of ‘Asperbers Are Us’ include: Jack Hanke, Michael Ingemi, Noah Britton and Ethan Finlan – the four boys met years ago at an Asperger’s Children’s Camp. The group has more than a few other videos on YouTube, so if you like the above video or are simply curious you can check out their YouTube channel here.
So what do you guys think, are these guys funny? Are there other groups of Aspies that are performing, or would like to perform? If you know of any other groups of comedians or performers (musical, etc’) that are also Aspies please feel free to mention them here or email me and I’d love to feature them on AspieWeb.

This reminds me of when I was little. Whenever my older siblings said something about a storm raining “cats and dogs”, I would always run up to the door, looking for stray cats and dogs – in other words, I took it literally.
I think it is fine to do something like this. People need to learn to relax and to laugh at themselves once in a while. We all have our quirks, after all. Humor I find is an excellent weapon against bigotry. It changes perceptions, and it shows others that we are just like them! Not to mention it completely shoots the stereo-type of Aspies not having a sense of humor out of the water!
Oh I thought this was really funny! Of course we should laugh at ourselves, we are, after all, hilarious! Love it.
Hey thanks for the press. Our next show will be June 23 at the Somerville Theatre in Boston MA. We’re not about poking fun at AS, though occasionally a sketch relates to AS. We’re just about being funny. Doodoo.
Since these guys are North Shore guys, would anyone know if they are going to perform at clubs on the South Shore anytime soon?
They should do a sketch about Star Wars. I know several Aspies who are obsessed with this.
