And The Problems Start

As some of you know I have been layed off from my last job.  Well right now money is dwindling, I have a rent bill of $420 due by December 1, I am behind a month in rent already and I only have $80 right now.  Due to that I am currently debating some changes to AspieWeb.net, and I would like your thoughts.

As some of you probably have noticed I have been changing the layout and advertising a bit trying to optimize it trying to encourage more clicks – which really has not been successful.  I have even pushed the t-shirt thing a bit by making a graphic (on the right).  As of right now I am lucky to make $10 a month off AspieWeb.net (which does not break even with hosting and domain fees – 19.95/month and $40.00/year.

So at this point I have had someone offer to buy AspieWeb.net – which makes me extremely uncomfortable.  This person won’t go into much about what there interest is in AspieWeb.  The money right now would take care of me for a while, but I’m uncomfortable unleashing this site – and the information it has and the hopes I had for this site to an unknown entity.

I’m sure some of  you are thinking, why don’t you just go get a job.  Well frankly I live in the state with the highest unemployment rate in the country right now – with more layoffs happening daily – that’s not exactly easy.

So right now I’m thinking about how I could try and make this site more profitable, but keep it as noncommercial as possible.  I would like some suggestions for doing this.   I have been thinking about adding more advertisements to the site, but I feel that would become an annoyance to readers.  I have also been thinking about asking for donations – but I feel bad about that.  So I guess for other bloggers or readers – I need suggestions.  What do you recommend?

*not a comment for the board, just a communication to say ‘yup, know what you mean’*

This I can relate to: I’m surrently not working, and finding work where I am is -put bluntly- near fucking impossible for foreigners (which, in Finland, as Scottish guy definitely qualifies as).

Wish I could do something, but I’m as fucked over as you are.
